The lay brake system is shown on fig. 6.45.
The lay brake system with a mechanical drive operates on brake mechanisms of back wheels. The drive of a lay brake consists of the lever, adjusting draught, the equalizer, приводных cables, levers of a drive brake колодок and разжимной laths with the built in mechanism of automatic adjustment of a backlash between a drum and колодками.
Removal
Remove the central console of the panel of devices.

Ослабьте an adjusting nut also disconnect a cable of a drive of a lay brake (fig. 6.46).
Remove the switch of a control lamp of a lay brake.
Remove the lever of a drive of a lay brake, having turned away screws of its fastening.
Remove a back wheel.
Remove a brake drum.
Remove a nave of a back wheel.
Remove brake колодки.
Disconnect a cable from the drive lever колодок.
Remove a ring of fastening of a cable of a drive of a lay brake to a board of the brake mechanism (fig. 6.47).
Remove a cable of a drive of a lay brake, having weakened a fastening clip.
Check of a technical condition
Check up work of the switch of a control lamp of a lay brake.
Check up gear sector of the lever of a drive of a lay brake on deterioration presence.
Check up cables of a drive of a lay brake on presence of deterioration or damages.
Replace a cable in following cases:
– Cable tips are weakened;
– Cable threads have started to be torn;
– The cable hard moves in a cover even after its greasing.
Installation
Installation is spent in an order, the return to removal.
Before installation of a brake drum check up external diameter brake колодок (at established колодках).
External diameter brake колодок cars without antiblocking system of brakes (diameter of a drum of 7 inches) should be 179,5–179,0; the cars equipped with antiblocking system of brakes (diameter of a drum of 8 inches), – 202,2–201,7 mm.
Adjust a cable of a drive of a lay brake for what execute the following:
– About twenty times press a pedal of a brake with effort 10 кгс;
– Not less than three times against the stop lift the lever of a lay brake.
Having pulled for the lever of a lay brake upwards with effort 20 кгс, enclosed in a point located on distance of 25 mm from the end of the lever, an adjusting nut adjust a drive cable so that the lever of a drive of a lay brake moved on 6–8 teeth of sector.
